Did I mention?

This blog contains commentary on my life at college and at home. I have been recently including my pursuit for a better resident life here at my own school. This will be an ongoing theme among many posts intertwined with various other issues.

First Entry of 2007

I have had such little time until now to do so many things let alone post a blog entry. So I sit here tonight having a fantastic day working with the Police, busy as all can be. I really had a full day, exactly what I wanted. Now I am tired, but remembered that maybe I should post something soon before I forget this blog entirely.

I am going to make an effort to continue this blog, but I also don'y forsee a lot of free time this coming semester. To keep all up to date, I went up to Mallory's for Christmas a few days early to the 25th then went back home for my Christmas at home. It was good aside from a virus that I had through out all of Christmas Eve till about the 27th. New Years was fantastic because Mallory came down and we went out for dinner and rented movies and so fourth. Nothing too crazy, but certainly very good.

I begin tomorrow with my first real free day post holiday season forming my Student Government agenda , as I have much to get done this up coming semester. There are a few key things I want to acomplish for this semester. Last semester I laid much of the ground work and foot holes if you will for a much more efficient and productive second semester.

Sink Fell off Bathroom Wall ...

Mallroy's bathroom sink fell off the wall as someone was showering, here are the results. FYI when you use the sink to the other bathroom across from it, water spews from these open pipes ! The sink was repaired earlier yesterday only to have it fall in the middle of the night again.

Here is the video , taken two days ago.

A new place to live

--
Live Strong
--

Lately I have been looking at apartments in and around my college. The cost of living on campus currently exceeds the cost to live off campus and as a result have come to agreement with my family that next year I will be living off campus.

I like it here in the suburbs of Boston, a place I could survive and perhaps thrive for another few years. My initial thoughts of remaining up here were negative, but since this year, I have been much more involved on campus and that has change everything for me. The progress I am making here while being in SGA Senate for just a month and a half has been great. There is much more work to be done, but good things are happening.

A one bedroom apartment with living room , dining area , fully appliance kitchen with washer and dryer in apartment itself comes to around $1,100. The cost to live on campus, not including the fines one may occur for others stupidity throughout the year comes to at the very least $1,333 a month. The only difference is being up here 12 months out of the year instead of 9. I am looking for a place in and around my college, but plan to find a real estate agent by February.

I will update with another entry this weekend ... As I end meetings this week with many new results expected.

Getting things done

So much has gone on since I have last posted an entry on here. I have made significant improvements with the campus dining hall, meeting with the new director for the contracted food service. I meet with him once every two week with the newly formed dining committee. We are slowly improving food selection and how it is served etc.

I am the liaison between Public Safety and SGA , as I know all the officers etc. I work with them to address student concerns regarding Public Safety on campus etc. Along with that I am on a campus wide committee that meets once every few weeks that discusses campus safety, that most of the head administration attends as I represent the student body as the one SGA senator at it.

I also have lobbied for a more diverse political science curriculum on campus.I have worked with departments heads etc to provide a bigger variety of courses regarding both government and history which will go into effect beginning Fall Semester 2007.

I also have started a new committee for SGA regarding the funding and grants department. SGA will soon meet with that department and make recommendations to them based on student needs and input towards how federal and state grant's are prioritized.

Other then that, academically all is well as midterms are over. Thank god. I am heading back home by mid November for Thanksgiving break , how ever the dates are not set yet.

I have been incredibly busy , too busy to post anything lately. I have been sick, had a dental issue, homework and midterms, SGA, and so much more.

I am really enjoying SGA. I am working on a few different initiatives. I will explain them in detail in my next post when I have more time.

I am also writing for " The Voice " , my college's newspaper as an OP/ED writer. I am really excited to start this but I wont have any time to write until next week. I will post the article when I complete it on this blog.

Currently I am in the middle of mid-terms and I cant wait for this weekend to come. I will be spending it sleeping, staying up late and perhaps going to see the Movie " The Departed". I will post more by the weekend as I am still doing homework and such at this moment.

Till my next post, carry on.

Bad Week

Ok so not only have I had a few dental issues, revolving around my wisdom teeth and more, I have now fried my laptop.

While struggling to find my pain medication in the dark of night while in pain I spilled my bottle of water over my laptop with out realizing it. I thought the water only was spilt on my desk and as a result my lovely iBook is no longer functioning. I am going to find a way to get to an apple store ASAP and look into my options. For now I am with out it.

I will be posting more "normally" once this issue is resolved. As far as SGA, I am beginning to implement my agenda, each day talking to different people and seeing where and when I can meet with different people. I plan to actually re evaluate my agenda and make it more realistic in the sense of time. I just have too many things to get done in a such a short period of time. I need to go back and see what is a priority and what can wait a month or so.

Will post again by the weekend.

Minimal Update

I apologize for the lack of postings as of late. I have been very busy. I have had a dental emergency which infact is still plaguing me till Monday when I go back. The pain I am in right this moment is undesrcibable thusI wil keep this short.

I won the election for SGA senate. Its very exciting. I plan to get my agenda rolling as soon as possible. Due to my dental appointment on Monday I will likely be missing my first day on the job as a newly elected Senator. I plan to however submit my thoughts and Ideas via email to the head of SGA etc. I will be notified of any voting and such as well.

I will post a much longer entry by the middle of the week as I hope to have all the issues of pain and homework as well resolved.

Thank you for voting for me.

Till my next post, carry on.

Application

I will be filing my application for candidacy on Monday for Senator. Tomorrow I will be attending a SGA meeting that provides information to the candidates and the basic structure of SGA here on campus. I am very excited and campaigning begins on Monday.

Perhaps I can make the change I so desire for this college. This might just be the gateway to so many new and improved things. I am planning a very intense agenda should I get elected. It is my hope and utmost intent to make things happen on this campus in the most positive way possible.

I will add a much more detailed entry by Monday.

Till my next post, carry on.

SGA

The first meeting for SGA of Mount Ida College is September 13th. The day of which to declare candidacy is September 19th and the election day is in the first week of October.

I am putting serious thought into entering the race for this year as a Senator. I alone in two weeks have been making a million strides towards a more efficient and positive campus experience. I just am incredibly curious about what SGA here on campus has to offer.

Tomorrow I will post more on this , as I will have more information once I speak with certain people.
